According to Shawn Langlois of MarketWatch, GM is recalling several Cadillac, Saturn, and Pontiac sedans and crossovers. There's a problem in the seal in the rear-axle that could potentially cause a loss of control of some vehicles. The report also states:
Another 38,000 GM vehicles are being called back to shops in Mexico, Canada, the Middle East and Asia, bringing the total number to about 313,000.
The recalls cover the Cadillac CTS sedan, SRX crossover and STS sedan from model years 2005 to 2007, as well as the Pontiac Solstice from 2006 and 2007. The 2007 Saturn Sky convertible is also included.
General Motors spokesman Alan Adler said that there has been one accident and one injury related to the defect.
GM said that the recall is expected to begin in February 2008.
Shares of GM tacked on 7 cents to $26.55 during Friday's broader market rally.
